AACN Certification Corporation Board
July 2025-June 2028
Erika Simon, MSN-Ed, RN, CCRN, serves a three-year term as a director on the AACN Certification Corporation Board of Directors from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2028.
Simon is director of education and employee health at Northern Arizona Healthcare (NAH), Flagstaff, and leadership liaison for the Clinical Ladder Committee. She has dedicated her career to teaching and mentoring nurses to embrace the profession as more than a job. Her focus is on advancing education and certification, and cultivating expertise that helps nurses fully experience the joy of nursing.
An AACN ambassador since 2017, she was chair of the NTI Program Planning Committee in 2022. She was also a member of the CCRN Item Writing Committee (2024), the Nominating Committee (2023-2024), and a reviewer for ECCO, NTI scholarships and the Circle of Excellence awards.
Simon has presented at multiple conferences, including NTI and Sigma Nursing. In 2023, she helped secure $3.3 million in funding to enhance training for nurses through the Arizona 1803 workforce grant, and she has received many individual grants for nursing education, which is her passion. She is also certified in BLS, ACLS and ATCN (advanced trauma care) and is an ATCN instructor.
Simon earned a Master of Science in Nursing at Grand Canyon University, Glendale, Arizona, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff.
She says, “I am an avid dancer. I grew up dancing all styles and even performed in the London New Year’s Day Parade. I teach Zumba weekly in the evening and coach for a competitive dance team at “All That Dance Studio.”
