Kristina Brooks, DNP, MBOE, RN, CCRN, AACC, LSSBB, serves a three-year term as a director on the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) Board of Directors from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2027.

Brooks recently transitioned to the role of assistant vice president of quality at West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown. As a nurse leader with a strong background in cardiology and cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery, her career has focused on staff engagement and process and quality improvement. She led the committee that helped earn the state’s first Beacon Award for Excellence and has worked with her leadership team to carry out Healthy Work Environment initiatives.

Brooks is an executive board member of AACN’s North Central West Virginia Chapter and an AACN ambassador. She serves on the Board of Directors of Wood County Society, which meets the needs of individuals with disabilities across 12 counties. In addition, she is an associate of the American College of Cardiology and holds memberships in several national and state nursing organizations.

Brooks earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice and a Master of Business Operational Excellence from The Ohio State University, Columbus. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and an associate’s degree in nursing at Ohio University, Athens.
